The Aftershoot alternative that lives inside your client gallery.
Aftershoot and Imagen are purpose-built culling tools — but they stop at the cull. Galerly is the only platform where AI culling is bundled inside the same tool as your client galleries, contracts, quotes, and invoicing. One subscription, one login, shoot to delivery.

What you get in one subscription
Why photographers look for an alternative
Photographers who already use a standalone culling tool eventually run into the same problem: the cull happens in one app, the delivery happens in another, the invoice is in a third. Every export step takes time. Every login is a context switch. Every support issue has a different company to call.
Some photographers look for an alternative because of the subscription cost — paying separately for a culling tool on top of a gallery platform adds up fast. Others want fewer browser tabs in their post-production workflow. A few prefer a browser-based approach that doesn't require a desktop app installed on every machine.
Browser-based, no desktop install
Galerly's AI culling runs in the browser on uploaded galleries. No desktop app to install, update, or license per machine. Works on any device you already use.
One subscription for the full workflow
Cull, deliver, invoice, and sign contracts from the same dashboard. No monthly cost for a separate culling-only subscription stacked on top of a gallery platform.
Works worldwide
Multi-currency invoicing (USD, EUR, GBP, CHF, CAD, AUD), country-aware VAT, and Swiss QR-bill support for photographers anywhere in the world.
Feature scope — what each category includes
Aftershoot and Imagen are referenced by category below (desktop culling tools). Galerly competes in a different category: a complete photographer platform with AI culling bundled in.

How Galerly's AI culling engine works
Every photo is scored across 9 dimensions simultaneously. The engine runs on Galerly's own servers — your photos never pass through a third-party AI provider. Inference is triggered automatically when photos are uploaded to a gallery.

Burst detection groups photos taken within seconds of each other and identifies the sharpest, best-exposed frame. A side-by-side compare overlay shows which frame the engine kept and why — the "Burst (3) · why?" badge on each card surfaces the dimensions where the keeper won.
You stay in control of every call. Promote a rejected photo or reject a selected one, and your overrides are saved with the gallery — with one click to restore the AI's original picks if you change your mind. The engine's scoring is tuned per shoot type (wedding, portrait, landscape), so a wedding cull is judged differently from a landscape one.
Culling runs inside the same workspace as your galleries. There is no export step, no Lightroom round-trip required before delivery. The ranked gallery is the delivered gallery.

Frequently asked questions
Does Galerly replace Aftershoot entirely?
+
For photographers who want their culling, gallery delivery, and invoicing in one place — yes. Galerly's AI culling handles the same core task: scoring large shoots and surfacing the best frames. It does not include Aftershoot's AI editing or retouching modules.
Can I cull in Galerly without switching from my current gallery software?
+
Galerly is designed as a complete platform. If you want to use only the AI culling and stay on another gallery tool, Galerly is not the right fit — the culling engine lives inside the delivery workflow, not as a standalone module.
Is Imagen the same category as Aftershoot?
+
Imagen AI is primarily known as an AI editing tool with culling available as an add-on. Aftershoot started as a culling-first tool. Both are standalone desktop or subscription apps focused on the editing pipeline rather than client delivery and business operations.
How large a gallery can Galerly cull?
+
Galerly's culling engine handles up to 10,000 photos in a single pass. A full-day wedding shoot of 3,000–5,000 frames processes without any special setup.
Do I need to install anything to use AI culling?
+
No. Culling runs in the browser when photos are uploaded to a Galerly gallery. There is no desktop client, no plugin, and no Lightroom integration required to trigger the cull. Lightroom and Capture One XMP sidecar export is available after the cull for photographers who want to import the selection back into their editing software.
