Swiss QR-bill for photographers, compliant on the first send.
Galerly is the only client gallery and invoicing platform that emits a compliant Swiss QR-bill on every CHF invoice. With IBAN, structured creditor reference, and MwSt 8.1% applied automatically.
Why a QR-bill is non-negotiable in Switzerland
Since 2022, the Swiss QR-bill has replaced the orange and red Einzahlungsschein. Every Swiss invoice should carry one. Clients open their banking app, scan the QR, and the IBAN, amount, and structured reference auto-fill. No typos, no rejected payments, no back-and-forth emails. Issuing a Swiss-format invoice without a QR-bill in 2026 reads as unprofessional, and increasingly, as the bank rejects manual transfer fields without a reference, it costs you days of payment delays.
The three mistakes Swiss photographers make on QR-bills
Wrong IBAN format
A QR-bill needs a regular IBAN OR a special QR-IBAN, and the two are not interchangeable. QR-IBAN starts with the IID range 30000-31999. Galerly validates the format on entry and refuses to issue an invoice with an invalid combination.
Missing or malformed reference number
A structured creditor reference (RF or QR reference) lets the bank auto-reconcile your incoming payments. Without it, you reconcile manually. Galerly generates the reference per invoice automatically.
MwSt computed on the wrong rate
The Swiss standard rate has been 8.1% since 2024-01-01. Photographers using the Saldosteuersatz method bill the standard rate to clients but settle a flat 5.1% with the Bundessteuerverwaltung. Galerly handles both the gross and the settlement side correctly.
What Galerly emits on every CHF invoice
A single PDF with the invoice on top and the compliant QR-bill payment slip at the bottom, exactly the format Swiss clients expect.
- A scannable Swiss QR Code with all payment fields encoded.
- IBAN or QR-IBAN, validated against the IID range.
- Structured reference (RF or QR reference) per invoice.
- MwSt at 8.1% (or 5.1% Saldosteuersatz settlement).
- Creditor address block per QR-bill standard.
- Currency in CHF; EUR-denominated QR-bills supported when payable to a Swiss IBAN.
Saldosteuersatz: the photographer rate
If your annual turnover is under CHF 5.005 million and your VAT due is under CHF 103,000 a year, you can elect the Saldosteuersatz method. Photography studios use the rate of 5.1% (BFE Branchenkategorie 5). You charge clients the standard 8.1%, settle 5.1% with the Bundessteuerverwaltung, and keep the difference. Galerly applies the right rate on the invoice line and the right rate on the settlement report. No manual reconciliation.

Does Galerly support QR-IBAN as well as regular IBAN?
+
Yes. Galerly accepts both regular IBAN and QR-IBAN. Validation runs on entry: the wrong combination of IBAN type and reference type is refused before the invoice is issued.
Can I bill in EUR with a Swiss QR-bill?
+
Yes, when the IBAN is Swiss. The QR-bill standard supports USD, EUR and more. Galerly emits the right currency code on the QR payload and the visible amount field.
Do I need to register for MwSt to use Galerly?
+
No. Galerly works for both registered and unregistered photographers. If you are below the CHF 100,000 threshold and unregistered, the invoice carries no MwSt line. Once you register, you switch on MwSt in your account and Galerly applies the right rate automatically.
How does Galerly compare to Magic Heidi or ToBill for photographers?
+
Magic Heidi and ToBill are excellent generic Swiss invoicing tools, but neither delivers your gallery. Galerly is the only platform that ships the QR-bill engine plus client-gallery delivery, contracts, quotes, and a portfolio site in one product.
